10 Font Sets that Makes You Want to Cuddle Up and Sip Hot Chocolate

Each year, Awwwards.com picked 100 inspiring fonts to share with fans. Out of the 100, here’s our 10 handpicked favourites,

1.  AILERONS TYPEFACE / FONT

AILERONS-TYPEFACE

Designed by Adilson Gonzales based in Brazil, the Ailerons font is inspired by aircraft models in the 40’s. Reminds us of the film Gattaca, possibly due to its aeronautical-inspired curvatures, you can’t help but feel like a star-gazer looking at them.

2. BARIOL TYPEFACE / FONT

This font won our hearts for its utter simplicity, yet it is refreshing and has its own quirky personality when applied. Modern, elegant, and applicable to a variety of settings. A product of design studio Atipo, based in Dijon/Spain, check out more of their work here

3. CHELSEA TYPEFACE / FONT

CHELSEA-TYPEFACE

Chelsea is a classic take that teleport you into a 1950’s jazz bar. Place it on any background and the font brings with it a touch of vintage class.

Designed by Antonio Rodrigues Jr from Brazil, a visual artist turn graphic designer. Since opening his office in 2013, Antonio has worked with a number of global clients. His work has been featured on publications such as How Magazine.

Check out more of his portfolio here, safely said, we’ll be back for more.

4. CUTEPUNK TYPEFACE / FONT

CutePunk-Typeface

CutePunk-Typeface-2

Cutepunk is the kind of handwriting typeface that you wish your natural handwriting would be like. As the name suggest, it is adorable-funk. It will probably work well as an electro signage, placed next to a disco ball.

Check out font here.

5. GOGOIA TYPEFACE / FONT

Gogoia reminds us of several movies combined into a psycho-triller plot. Most recent pick-up would be the film ‘Inherent Vice’. According to designer Alan de Sousa, he was inspired by the Brazilian tropics, and a famous song. We would have to find out more about this song. But by the looks of it, we will be slightly obsessed by this font for a while.

6. MELMA TYPEFACE / FONT

Melma-Typeface

Not many fonts works well in all caps. Despite it’s hard-graft stern exterior, placed against a curated backdrop, and it oozes out Malibu Dream in a jug. Check out font here

7. MINNA DROP TYPEFACE / FONT

MinnaDrop-TYPEFACE

“The wizard quickly jinxed the gnomes before they vaporised.” – rather apt choice of words to represent the set. Slightly whimsical, feminine and a tad classy. Get ready to hang your ornaments on it. If this font has a flavour, it would be chocolate mint. Check out font here

8. NOOA TYPEFACE / FONT

NOOA-TYPEFACE

NOOA-TYPEFACE-2

We fell instantly in love with this font set. Timeless and modern. Each character seems like a simple work, yet when put together they harmonise into a piece of art. Designed by Antoine Pilette, based in Belgium, Antoine is a graphic designer and a front-end developer by practice.

More of his work can be found here

9. REGINA TYPEFACE / FONT

Regina-Typeface

We picked Regina for its simplicity and femininity. We love how some of the characters are left open-ended, and asymmetrical. If Regina is a celebrity, who would she be? Maybe Cate Blanchette.. we’ll leave that to your ponder. Designed by Santino Calvo, you can find out more about his work here

10. VOGA TYPEFACE / FONT

VOGA-TYPEFACE

VOGA-TYPEFACE-3

To sum up the year, we picked the Voga typeface. Not many serif fonts are able to pull-off the playfulness that these characters exudes. Sturdy yet casual, tempered flamboyance, with a lil cheekiness. Without discrediting it further, discover more of Charles Daoud’s work here

Did we mention that all the fonts above are up for free download, very generous of the creators indeed. Some of them have the Paypal option for coffee/appreciation tips.

May these fonts inspire your next creative campaign, and have your desk filled with wonder ~
